I met up with Derek at RubyConf 2005. I’ve ordered some music from CD Baby in the past and was surprised to find myself meeting the founder, president, and original programmer for the company! I got to chat with him briefly before the last session David Heinemeier Hannson gave on Rails. Real nice guy. Totally awesome that he’s rewriting the CD Baby site in Rails!
I met John while I was at RubyConf 2005. He helped my friend and I out a bit with some regular expressions we were writing for a Ruby app we were writing (rplanet). Real nice, personable guy. Looking forward to seeing him at other Ruby events in the future!
She performed Shostakovich at the Hollywood Bowl on August 30, 2005. It was spectacular! Sarah is definitely one of the best violinists I’ve ever heard and it was just amazing seeing and hearing her in person! Afterward, she was signing autographs at a booth attached to the Tower Records store outside the Bowl. So, I got my copy of her “Sweet Sorrow” CD signed. I even got to say “Hi” and was standing about 3 feet from her. It was great! Definitely one of the most spectacular moments in my life thus far.
